Suminagashi

Suminagashi

This is ancient Japanese technique of art which has over 1,000 years of history.
Its origin goes back to around 9th century when aristocrats enjoyed changing patterns of dropped sumi ink on water surface of brook.

To make the condition, we drop sumi ink into water filled in container, and stir with thin bamboo or make soft wind by wave Japanese fan, and blowing at KAMISM.

Suminagashi

Intricate pattern is transferred to wagami by applying wagami on water surface gently.
Patterns are appeared by chance where sumi ink dropped and how wind was blow.
Therefore there is never exact same pattern. You will have the moment as a pattern.
